Don't Be Afraid - Some Questions That Get in our Way

Many people think that if you don’t have proof of sexual abuse or if no one will believe you, that you do not have the right to speak up.  There are so many questions that go through one’s mind when thinking about speaking up about abuse.  Some questions might be - this list is my no means exhaustive:

  • Will anyone believe me?
  • Will my abuser hurt me more?
  • Will others be mad at me and say it’s my fault?
  • Will I be judged negatively by others?
  • Will this even be considered abuse?
  • Do I have the money to leave my abuser?
